Happy New Years everyone!
I trust you all had a good New Years Eve and Day. This last year for me has been a bit of a blur to be honest. I was very busy, which is great, but I also have been working through the passing of my late grandmother Adeline Ketcheshawno DuBoise. She was an amazing grandmother and mother to our family. It has been difficult to not have her hear with us, but she is always in our hearts and I am sure she visits us from the other side from time to time.
I believe we will have a good year this year. My brother and I were on our way to deliver my artwork to this months exhibition gallery when we saw a large bald eagle, Ketiwa sitting high up on the tree on our way up to Tulsa. For my people seeing an eagle is a great blessing, and we saw this New Years eve. I believe this to be a blessed sign for both of us, and we will have a positive out look to the beginning of the new year.
I would like to let everyone know that I have a new exhibition "Living on the Native Oklahoma Reservation" which is up at the Tulsa Artists Coalition Gallery in Tulsa, OK at the Arts Brady District in downtown Tulsa. I had the opening reception on Jan. 3rd from 6-9pm during the Art Districts First Friday Art Walk. I got to chat with many different people and I enjoyed talking about myself and my art. I didn't get the time to promote the show like I would have liked but I did decided to have another reception on Jan. 18th from 1-3pm so my followers, friends, and family could get a chance to come up and enjoy the exhibition with me. My dad is also going to play his Native flutes for guests as they come into the gallery.
I am thankful for wonderful family and friends that support me and help me when I ask for a helping hand. Without them I might not be able to pull of some of my events, or be as successful as I am now. We don't always get a long, but we all know when to put aside our differences and come together as support for each other. I look forward to my exhibit being up the whole month of Jan.
I also will be up in Tulsa again in February for the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition's Concept and Survey exhibition. One of my pieces was accepted so I will be up there again! It has been a strong start to the year for my personal art journey. I just like to share my journey and hopefully bring a smile to your face. Thank you for supporting me!
Have a good start to the new year, and I wish you all the best.
