March 2022 Artist Updates!

Happy March! I really cannot believe how fast February 2022 flew by. Where did it go? I trust I have a little more wiggle room in March, but as a busy artist, my ‘palette’ is full of projects and upcoming exhibitions. I am very thankful to be busy and to have my artwork in various locations and on display. This first week of March I found out two of my artworks were accepted to the 51st Trail of Tears Art Show and Sale. This is also my first time entering so I am super excited. Their staff is super awesome to with reaching out to artist because I had a little bit of a problem with my submission but they were super kind and helpful in getting everything smooth out. The day this blog post comes out to, is the opening reception for the Paseo Arts & Creativity Center Show with the theme of ‘Home’. Two of my pieces were selected for this exhibition. The Paseo Show will be up from March 4th to March 26th.

You can also see some new pieces and older pieces of my art at this year’s Momentum art exhibition, which will be in downtown OKC at the Tap Architecture building. OVAC has decided to have Momentum in the format that was used before the COVID-19 Pandemic and will be one weekend in March from the 25th to 27th. You can purchase tickets for this awesome exhibition of art, music, and mingling. Then I will be sharing art for a public install piece with ‘This is Place’ which is a community project by Lauren Rosenfelt in collaboration with Jessie Rosenfelt which is funded by the OVAC Thrive! Grant. This will be installed at the Little Axe Community Center in Norman, OK, and will have a flower and veggie garden, and art that correlate to places in Oklahoma with a local area artist, including myself.

I trust some of you will be able to come and view the wonderful art at these various exhibitions and places, not just to see my art, but to help support local Oklahoma artists and the arts in Oklahoma. And speaking of supporting Oklahoma artists, I thank all those the last two months that purchased art from my online store or commissioned me! All the money as always helps in my art making and with my daily life. I always get excited when I get an email from people purchasing a piece of art! For the month of March, I plan to upload some new art pieces for purchase. Follow me on social media to see when these pieces are released at Facebook and Instagram. Or you can visit one of the various exhibitions listed above and purchase the artwork directly from the galleries and venues.

In terms of projects I have a lot of things I am balancing in my studio work schedule. So that is full as well. Also, just a mention of an upcoming exhibition at the museum I work at in Shawnee, the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art’s High School Juried Art Exhibition 2022. It opens next March and showcases local High School Student Artwork. I am in charge of this event and I am excited to help share the art of our wonderful young artists. Come out and take a look to, we have some wonderful pieces.

I thank all of you that read this and continue to support me and my artmaking from the past, present, and future. All the kind words and encouragement make me happy. So, keep an eye on my website for any updates, check out my online shop, view my website art portfolio for new artworks, and view my social media for frequent updates and finished artworks. If anyone has questions feel free to email me at aldthewoods@gmail.com.

Wishing you all the best.
